Wiring up a subwoofer, I'm confused :-(

I have a ....

Yamaha RX-V650 Receiver
and..
Acoustic energy Aesprit 308 Active Sub

I'm confused as how to wire them up as the advice on the net and in the manuals seems contradictory.
The RXV 650 manual indicates that I should connect to the sub with one RCA type lead from the receiver pre-out.
The Asprit manual indicates that I should use one rca lead from the receiver pre-out but splitting off into a Y connector to the 2 line ins on the sub.

Other sites on the net seem to indicate that I should do eityer of the above but route the front speakers through the sub using the line-in and line-out terminals.

The Aesprit has line-in and line-out jacks and line-in and line out terminals

Any help appreciated

 

I would recommend setting your equipment as described in the Yam's manual. If you have trouble with the sub coming on automatically at inappropriate times then try the arrangement described in the Aesprit manual.
