In my living room I had a standard dimmer situated by the front door, and a standard dimmer situated by my dinning room door.

The dimmer by the front door turned the lights on and off but didnt dim, and the one by the dinning room, switched lights on and off and did dim.

Ive replaced the switch by the dining room with a Varlight master remote dimmer and the one by the front door with a slave unit.

    They are wired as:-

    Remote dimmer
3 core cable, red, yellow and blue.
    Ive connected red - live
    Yellow - Slave
    Blue - Load
    + earth

    Slave Dimmer.

There are lots of cables here ive got.

1 red on its own connected to LIVE
1 red + 1 yellow connected to Slave
1 blue + black connected to Load

Spare red + black taped together not connected to anything.

    BUT

It doesnt work at all, neither of the units function.

If i connect the master remote dimmer onto the circuit and leave the old standard dimmer wired it then the master remote dimmer works, but the standard dimmer doesnt do anything although i can get it to turn off the lights after pressing it numerous times.

Any ideas what im doing wrong?. All the cables which are connected to the slave dimmer or as they were with my old standard dimmer i havent swapped anything around.

    Okay, listen carefully...

The three core cable (red, yellow and blue) will be behind both switches, whilst one switch will have an additional red and black cable.

From what i understand, you will need to have the master connected where you have the 2 sets of cables (r,y,bl & r & bla) These dimmers dont connect the same as a standard dimmer.

    MASTER:
Red (from 3 core cable) to 'S'
Yellow & other Red to live
Blue & black to last connection with the arrow.

    SLAVE:
    Red to 'S'
    Yellow to Live
    Blue to last connection.

    Sorted.
