wireless networking question

i have the new virgin media hub (30mb) and an old netgear router a netgear wgt264,

What i want to do i believe is turn the netgear router into an access point, i have a LG lw650t tv in the living room, xbox and bd660 blu ray player and my main internet connection upstairs with my pc in the study, the virgin hub is in the study and pushes wireless internet connection to my laptop and wifes computer and my pc connects via wired lan into the hub.

What i want to do is use the internet connection (wireless) and access this down stairs using the router (wirelessly) and hard wire the tv, bluray and xbox into the access point so i can use the wireless connection and push to the wired devices, is this possible ?

Thanks

Barry
