Hello, need some advise! I want to connect my TV's to my server so I can watch movies, play songs etc, and record TV with a TV card in the server, but with the ability to do it from the Media player. I understand the Pinnacle Showcenter 1000g with a pinnacle TV card allows you to do this. How good is the pinnacle setup? or is there any others which are better?

    Thanks
    Andrew :lease:

Pinnacle have now brought out the Showcentre 200 - costs about £200. The 1000 can be had for less than £130 now that the new machine is out.

The 200 has additional features over the 1000 like a USB port which you can use to directly connect an external HD. Also the wireless capability is built in - no separate card.

Your gonna love this as an "out there" suggestion but,

You ever thought about using an Xbox?

I use my modded xbox to stream movies(Divx, SVCD, DVD etc.. etc) , music (MP3's, WMA etc) and look at my photo albums on any tv in my house I choose to connect it to. Yes, it even supports Dolby Digital (with and advanced video cable).

Hey! It even plays some awesome games too ;)

    What you would need:

    1 xbox (100 GBP)
    1 mod chip (35GBP)
1 network connection (your choice wifi/RJ45)
1 copy of Xbox Media Centre (the mod'er will get this for you, its awesome
    and FREE)
and someone to mod it for you

    optional:
    1 bigger hard disk (20-100GBP)

Oh and as a "portable" in house DVD player, its also pretty damn good and region free.

    Best of luck!
