Does anyone know if you can get either a hi-fi component or a portable radio that uses WiFi to connect to a PC server for MP3 files and/or broadband for internet radio stations?

Onkyo have something similar to what I'm after with their "Net-Tune" technology, but it's a bit clunky and not wireless.

    Cheers,
    Ian.

If you're after audio only, the Squeezebox by Slim Devices is absolutely fantastic! And does exactly what you want.

negears mp-101 also does wireless mp3 streaming and internet radio. Has LCD display on the front so you don't need your TV on.

The one I have my eye on is prolly the creative labs wireless music solution. That one has an RF remote, with the LCD display on the remote, so you can easily see what is playing, and tuck the receiver out of sight.

Anyone know when this is due out in the UK?

Although its a bit clunky the Netgem iPlayer DvB STB http://www.netgem.com/ can do most of what you want and works with some USB wifi adaptors.

It comes with no PC software so you'll need to setup your own ftp, web, video and audio servers but I'm successfully playing DvB captures, my MP3 collection, internet radio (hit&miss some work, some don't) and browsing the web from it.

...its a pretty good Freeview receiver as well!

I got one of these but cannot get it to talk to my Netgear 108 mbps router. The router gives the Creative an IP address, but I just keep getting error messages telling me that the music player can't access the wireless network. About to give up and try to send it back, and get a squeezebox!

All the products on this page do what you want.

There are wireless receivers to connect to your existing equipment - SL50i, SL300i, SL400i, as well as HiFis and TVs with wireless built-in. All will access Internet Radio via a broadband connected PC or wireless router and also play media content from the harddisc of your PC :)

    Regards
