I'm looking to spend up to £150 on headphones to use with my Marantz CD/amp and my iPod.

Most standard headphone cables are not long enough (I have 3 to 3.5 m between equipment and listening position) so I would need to buy an extension wire. Alternatively I could go for a pair of wireless headphones. My question is, would one of these solutions denigrate the sound quality more than the other?

If wired with extension cable is better, what sort of quality cable will I need to work with some headphones of the standard of (say) the Grado SR80i or Bose OE2i?

Thanks for your advice!

Wired will always sound better than even a pricey wireless one. Extension cables don't degrade sound - unless you're going to run one ridiculous lengths, like 20 metres or more.

Any decently shielded and plugged ext. will be fine, we're not talking a lot of money here though. Just don't buy the cheapest thing there is, because it will be.
