Well you buy a 54g system if you want to move files around the network at a decent speed and if you use xbox media player to stream video, mp3 etc wireless.

Try that with WET11. Not Only this but connecting an xbox up to the net for live is the smallest part of my wireless network. I also have a laptop and another PC hooked up using wireless. TO get the lot connected cost around £150, not bad considering its decent linksys kit.

Incidentally going Wet 11 using the Linksys kit would have saved my around £40 - £50

Harris all i Want this for is Xbox live use maybe a lap top now and then
but the sole point is to stop a 30ft cat cable being streached across from comp room to bedroom for xbl so from your note the wet 11 and router suggested in perv note will cope

    industry speak
    ;) 54meg 802.11 G spec.

(did I get away with that?)

agree with you Harris, if you're creating a network, over small distances, 54M makes sense.

but if you're primarily getting files, links, etc from a 1/2 meg adsl link, the wlan bit isn't really the bottleneck, is it.

anyway, after all that, I bought a 54M linksys box!

only cos after 2 hours surfing for a deal, and 30 mins in PCworld, I realised that you spend £70 on a standard adsl modem, or £75 on a 11m and modem, or an extra £15 gets you 54M.... ie it's really no saving to go for the old 11M kit.

Well that was my point. My saving would have been £40 on the whole wireless network. Not much of a decision really is it.

Incidentally I went down the WET11 route on a budget once before. I couldnt get it to work right. At the end of the day we are talking about pennies in the scheme of things a couple of games at best. Might as well get the right kit.
