I'm sure this has been discussed but I am looking for a wireless 7.1 headset that does not need a separate box to plug optical cable etc. I need one for my son & one for me preferably compatible with ps4 too but it's not a deal breaker. I've researched a little bit it's a minefield.

I am also keen to know if there are any wireless headsets that can be used on the Xbox one

Plenty wireless headsets available. Astro A50s and turtle beach have a few too.

I use the Stealth 500x and it's fantastic.

I have been tempted by these, are they completely wireless? Also what is the chat volume like? Finally would they work on a ps4 or just Xbox?

I've looked at the Stealth 500x. They come with an audio hub connected via optical so I'm guessing you have to select the console to output audio via optical. Thing is I don't always play with a headset so would I have to mess around with the console settings to get the audio from my tv?

With my Astros the sound will come out the TV and the mixamp. I mute the tv when using the mixamp and headphones.

The 500x are the same as the Astros, sound comes from both.

I've just ordered the 500x so hopefully they're good

Anyone got stealth 500x working with ps4 at all, great headset though,
