I've just bought wipeout off the psn, but all i get is a 75MB (License) download. When i try to install it fails, anyone have any ideas on where do i download the actual game for it? it's not in my download list, just this license file?

    Thanks

I take it that version is for the PSP ? If so are you trying to install it on the PS3 or the PSP ?

I wonder if we will get all of those PS1 games in the UK store soon? Wipeout and Destruction Derby would be fun to play again.

    480 is an upscale - PS1 is 320x240.

Downloaded it too last night, (impulse buy alert!!), it hasn't aged very well, has it? Playing a PS game on a HD screen is also a bit surreal as most of us originally played these games on a 14" portable fed by RF

The Wipeout series is great though and I can't wait for a proper PS3 Wipeout to come out soon. I just hope it's more exciting than the slightly disappointing PS2 effort.

Works fine with my mastercard mate, although did register it months ago and i'm sure I read they dont let you register ones with non-us billing address anymore.

I thoroughly enjoyed WipeOut 2097. In fact I became Champion of Sheffield when that game was launched. :D

Game held some racing heats and Time Trials in their shop and I won. It got me a t-shirt, free game, trophy and an appearance in the local paper.

I love the idea of a new WipeOut on the PS3. I hope it's not a disappointment like the PS2 version was. :thumbsdow

Still works with Mastercard although you need to leave the default address that you registered with PSN. If you try and be honest it rejects it. I just registered and downloaded Destruction Derby. It works on the PS3, haven't loaded it onto the PSP yet. I wanted it for the PSP - just as well as the graphics really don't look good on a plasma!

It's amazing how badly the graphics have dated. When I first saw Wipeout all those years ago it was amazing, now it looks garbage, even the pre-rendered stuff. No wonder it was so cheap!

The ships seem to be made up of about 10 polygons (literally) and there's much pop-up in the sparsely detailed backgrpunds.

Same goes for Ridge Racer which I had the misfortune of seeing recently. These things are best kept in the memory.

    RDB :)

wipeout does look ropey now, looks a wee bit better on a psp, it'll be better when they start offering games from further on in the ps one's life, metal gear solid etc should look fairly decent on a psp.

I got crash bandicoot on thr weekend also and it looks a bit rubbich on the PS3 but on the PSP screen it looks and plays amazingly well. I have got my fingers crossed for Resident Evil 1 Directors Cut which i believe is on the Japanease playstion store.

there's loads of ps one games i missed the first time around that i would love to play, somehow never got to play resident evil 1 so at £3.49 a pop it would be rude not to.

personally i would like to see Soul Reaver: Legacy of Kain, it was graphically top-notch for its era and would be awesome on psp.

I loved the oddworld (abe's odysee/exodus) games! Cant see them coming though (except for the ps3) as those games need L1/2 R1/2 triggers!

Looks like there will be a Wipeout HD in the Playstation Store before the end of the year (basically Wipeout Pulse the psp game, ala Tekken DR), then a full, new retail Wipeout in 2008:

There is nothing wrong with the game or indeed a lot of the other PS1 games. They just don't stand the test of time that's all. They were goo in their day but obviously when compared to today's games they aren't going to look or play as well. Also if you have an HDTV they will obviously look worse on that.

I think the ps1 games are great value for money considering the originals cost over £30 when released. of course comparatively the ps1 games haven't aged well but they actually look the same as they always did, its just we've gotten used to hi def. when i first downloaded crash bandicoot i was struck by the awful graphics but after a while you overlook the graphics and get used to it. Its the same with wipeout. All in all ps1 games are just that; ps1 games. if you grew up playing ps1 games you'll know what to expect and shouldnt be dissappointed by what you see. If on the other hand ps2 is where your gaming started then yup ps1 will look poor indeed, but its still a damn sight better than nes games or decade old arcade games selling for higher prices on other consoles.

Playing them on the psp however is another thing all together, very crisp almost looks like they were designed to play on psp. Having said that i've never felt comfortable playing with the psp, its not very ergonomic and the d-pad is the worst ever.

I am really looking forward to more classics coming out on PSN, and a t £3.50 a pop i can see me building up a large collection of classics.

sorry guys, i guess i'm just not as keen playing 10 year old games on my [email protected]@ machine. i wouldn't pay £3.50 for a vhs copy of terminator.

    no offence.

I been playing Wipeout and really enjoy it still, just wish they had released 2097.

The graphics aren't cutting edge, but the gameplay is still there and you will not find another racer like it on current consoles.
