I've got a programme called winfixer load itself on my PC with an icon on the desktop. I don't know what it is but it doesn't half slow my PC down. I've emailed them but only had an autoresponse. What is it and how do I de-install it?

    Part of Adware!

You have advertising trojans on your PC that self install when you visit web pages!

Remove it and download ad-aware (free scanner) and remove the advertsing programs it finds!

You could do with some good protection like a firewall to stop this happening again and run adaware now and again to keep you free from this crap!

If you want a good program to check your PC Norton system works is good!

Be warned that some free softwares on the web also have Adware hidden in them!

Look for an uninstaller for winfixer, usually in control panel-add/remove programs.

    Use ad-aware (free scanner).

The MS anti spyware should really have prevented this ever getting on there, did you install this before or after you started seeing this helpful stuff on your screen?

I think I've finally got rid of this. I found a lot of info on google now. It's alledged that it's part of an international crime ring and that's it's not removed by a lot of programms.

I had to use hijackthis in the end
