I stumbled across this services guide for XP whilst browsing a few weeks ago and after having a read through, and changing some of my settings I noticed fairly substantial performance gains - particularly with regards to the amount of time taken to boot up.

Whilst it's aimed particularly at XP users, I imagine that some of the information will also apply to Win 2000/ME users so it may be worth a look for you guys too :)

What I found particularly useful is the description of each particular service - now I know what all of those "annoying" background services were actually up to ;) :)

    See Here :)
