Windows Mobile Live Messenger, Contacts Appear Offline

As the title says, contacts appear offline but their not, only way to talk to them is if they talk first..

Have an O2 XDA Orbit with the Mobile 6 Update, tried resetting phone but no luck..

Problem described here..

Hmm strange one. I know that if you make yourself appear offline, you can still talk to people as long as you communicate first(I do it at work so I don't get bombarded with people I don't want to chat with). Are you positive they haven't set their status to appear offline?
