I ripped and copied a few CDs recently with this software. Between each track is a very audible crackle noise that lasts for less than a second, but is quite loud.

I do not get this using the same version of the software on my Toshiba laptop.

So, I thought this was likley to be the fault of the hardware in my Dell PC (5150).

However, using Roxio software bundled with the PC to burn the same CD it did not insert this noise.

I do not want to use this Roxio software long-term as it is very basic, and gives no control over the speed of burn for example.

Has anyone any ideas what might be causing this, and any recommendations for any free, easy to use, CD burning software?
