Has something happened in Windows 8? Since upgrading from 7, my PC can no longer pass 5.1 sound (DD or DTS) out through the SPDIF. I get stereo only. This must be a driver issue as it worked perfectly before but I installed the most up to date drivers I can find.

There's tons of stuff about WASAPI and such like but I can't find a way to just send the raw file to my processor.

Using the onboard SoundMAX of my Asus p5ws64 pro with Version 6.10.2.6585 of the Analog Devices driver.

    Any ideas?

Problem solved... The passthrough is enabled in the playback software rather than Windows itself. In Kodi you have to select advanced options to display the requisite options.
