Windows 7 "Restart" doesn't restart!

Hi

I have a new Toshiba T130 laptop with Windows 7. When I click on "restart" in the start menu, the computer shuts down (as you'd expect). However, it makes no attempt to restart. Effectively, clicking "restart" is the same as clicking "shut down".

Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Are you definitely, 100% sure you are clicking "Restart" and not the icon to Shutdown? By default, the icon is set to shutdown action. You need to click on the little arrow next to the icon to select "Restart".

Yep, definitely clicking "restart" rather than an icon.
