    hi

I finally got some time to put together my new bits into my htpc.

    i have i3 2100t, h67 asus mobo

Now i am having problems and really need some help as its very annoying.

I have been using xbmc on xp for ages and it worked close to perfect.

The problem i have using windws 7 is that when i want too watch a movie through xbmc what i notice is that the screen goes blank and it is this which causes my htpc to reboot.

if i use mediaplayer ,vlc etc it works fine as the video opens in a window so the screen does not go blank for a sec or so.

the other problem (linked to above problem) is i cannot boot the pc up without it getting stuck on the asus screen and it jams there.

my work around is to tuurn off my hdmi matrix until the pc has booted then i can turn the matrix back on and all is fine until i need to watch a film via xbmc.

I can see its some sort of hdmi issue.
A note i have been using all the same setup with xp machine and it works fine but ever since my upgrade to windows 7 i have this issue.

please can someone help me out as i m a novice with pc's.

    cheers

The screen going blank will be a symptom of the problem, not a cause.

It might be worth a look in Event Viewer for clues. Go to Computer, right-click, Manage, Event Viewer.

I forgot to mention if i connect it to my monitor dvi its all woring ok no problems at all.
With hdmi it seems to mess the pc up when it goes blank for a second or two, when i start video in xbmc or restart the computer or boot up.

i used to get the same blank screen when i used it with xp but no hdmi handshake problems at all.
No one else had a similar problem, i so miss starting up my movies in xbmc.
