This was one the big surprises for me last year. A very good movie, period.

Nice review Cas , heard nothing but good things about this film so went ahead and purchased the LOVELY French steelbook which turned up yesterday.
The steel is beautiful really thick gloss , will maybe get round to this tonight or midweek can't wait.

Picked this up on US blu-ray a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. One of the few films that the Mrs and I talked about after watching, given it’s insight to a world seldom seen

Just ordered it from amazon so should be here in a few days. Loved Hell or High Water and Sicario and after reading the reviews and comments we're really looking forward to seeing Wind River.

Just watched. Great movie. Stunning scenery and an environment that made you feel the coldness of the place. I wonder why the Native American women who go missing aren’t recorded (mentioned this as the credits appeared).
      Definitely worth watching

Saw this at the weekend knowing very little about it and loved it. What a gem, great performances all round and another gritty story from the writer. Best film I have seen Jeremy Renner acting in.

      Spot on review too.

Just finished watching it and very much enjoyed. Great performances all around and a very good quality blu ray. Shame it was not released on 4K though :(

Great movie, usually hate Jeremy renner but he was really good, Elizabeth Olsen going from strength to strength too.

1.Sicario, 2. Wind River. 3 Hell or Highwater.

Just watched it - awesome film - it grabs you right at the beginning, keeps you guessing, and holds the tension like a vice as it slowly unfurls to the explosive conclusion. One of the best releases currently around - especially if you like a really great story.

Great film, held the attention from start to finish. Scenery was beautifully portrayed by a very very good picture quality. I thought the sound quality poor, especially dialogue which seemed muffled and vague. It could have just been this particular disc but for only the second time I had to engage the dialogue enhancer on my Denon, the other film being Prisoners.

Apart from a little disappointing soundtrack this is definately a solid 9/10 film.

I watched this Blu Ray earlier in the week and have to say that it was a very enjoyable film, good picture and sound quality. I loved the scenery there's something about a desolate snowy landscape (The Revenent) I particularly like, sitting under my electric throw all nice and warm. Also the other films Sicario and Hell and High Water were both really good so when I saw it on a shelf in Saintsbury's just had to get it, so glad I did. :)

Watched it for the first time tonight, agree with @gibbsy about the muffled dialogue. I had the volume turned right up, which of course meant that when the gunshots rang out I almost jumped off my sofa!

Really enjoyed the film and the presentation, a solid 8/10 here.

Anyone else seeing some seriously bad aliasing artefacts with this release, it's sporadic, but really jarring when it occurs. See capture (full and zoomed) below, really noticeable on the branches here :

I wonder if the US release is any better.

I have the U.S. release but didn’t notice any issues on the picture side of things, only the audio. I might stick the disc in again during the week and have another look.

Totally agree. I enjoyed the film when I watched it last night, but the dialogue was amongst the most muffled I have ever heard.

I know the absolute numbers will vary, but my system/room is set up so that -20dB gives a very enjoyable soundtrack for most films. For Wind River, that made the gunshots and atmospheric bass too loud AND the dialogue too quiet at the same time.

Turning my system up to -12dB gave reasonable dialogue, but then when an action sequence came on, everything started to go ballistic! I quite enjoy that, but can't listen at that level as I have neighbours!

Is there a quick way to do this? I have never used the feature on my Marantz, but I don't really want to have to dive into the menus of the AVR midway through the film after I have decided the dialogue is too low!

Is there a discrete command from the remote to toggle it?

On my Denon remote there is an options button to the right side. It allows several alterations including dialogue enhance and woofer adjust. Could be the same with Marantz.

      hav
Thanks. I'll check it out, but having looked at the manuals, I think that the X6200 has got a better implementation of this than my SR7010 - dialogue enhancer vs dialogue level adjust.

The enhancer adds volume to certain frequencies, the adjust just boosts the centre channel. Still, it's better than nothing for films like this!

This movie had great potential. Jeremy Renner is one of the few good actors that carries it as far as he can. Elizabeth Olsen is mis-cast and can't act much. The Native cast were mostly awful, except for the victim. Any body else find the implausible scene amateurish where 'mom's butchering herself', oh give her the privacy, no care or help!? The Blu Ray had muffled dialogue issues and a few scenes where aliasing was apparent. I was really looking forward to this too:( 5/10

What is the total running time of this Blu-ray ray version? ...110 or 107
110 is the uncut version, 107 is the censored version.

I think it's 110. I did notice it graphic in some scenes.

Yes, the scene with the coyotes near the very beginning. The 110 version shows more, the 107 version shows less. And there are few other scenes in the film too. Brief roughly three minutes total have been deleted in the shorter version.

The dialog is not always easy to hear, the actors are speaking quietly, very.
I had to use the subtitles occasionally.

I enjoyed the flick; poignant, dechirant, violent, strong acting, some beautiful cinematography, first rate cast, first rate film director.
