I know its possible to control WinAmp 2.x using normal remotes but I wish to have more visual control over playlists/tracks.

From hunting around, I've found that a cheap (old) PalmPilot running palmAMP along with its WinAmp plugin, will allow me to do this; but its only a wired (serial port) solution.

I'd hoped I might be able to take advantage of the Palm's IR port, then use an IR extender (eg PowerMids) to transmit to the PC. The PC would have a IR receiver on its serial port, but i've been unable to find an IR Palm winamp controlling program.

Can anybody help with Wireless (IR) Palm solution to control Winamp ?

Thanks.

ok,
mo response, but i'll follow it up with what i've found, just incase anyone else tries to do the same thing.

direct (wireless) winamp control can be achieved using MMC

It has a few quirks , but it works via Serial cable, IR or RF.

Another more complex solution, is total PC control. This can be achieved using s/w such as;
1) palmVNC (you'll have to search for it).

or

2) Win-Hand Free , which is faster.

If your running win98 or less your'll need PPP comms installing, from here

Hope this helps anyone who's interested.
