Hi,
I have just installed Win7 ultimate on one of my HTPCs and I am having some problems with S3 Standby.
Some times it works fine, but about 30% of time that it goes into standby everything seems to go well until the point when the power light would normally switch off..... but it doesn't then actually switch off.
It basically then gets stuck with all the main devices powered down with only a few items powered, and there is no way to wake it up again. The only devices that seem obviously powered are the case fans, the DVD drive (it opens and closes, but does not read a disc) and the remote control receiver (which flashes if I press a button), but the PC as a whole it is totally unresponsive.
If I switch the PSU rocker switch to 0 and then back to 1, the system seems to the recover as if it had come out of hibernate (but I have not asked it to hibernate!).
Any ideas what might be causing this? It is destroying the WAF, which is already severely dented after rendering the system inoperable during the upgrade! She even said "I JUST WANT A NORMAL TV LIKE EVERYONE ELSE" today (and then swore at me like a dock worker), so I have to fix this one quickly .
Normal TV, what does she know
(P.S. no offence intended to any dock workers, I am sure you are all much more tolerant of my wife! )
