Ahi folks, I'm out to replace my intel atom nettop that I've been using as a kind of HTPC!

So, I'm looking at the components below, are they all compatible is my first question, my second is, will I need a dedicated CPU fan and finally, will it be quiet!!

    (I already have a 64gb ssd)

    GIGABYTE H87N WIFI Intel H87 (Socket 1150) Mini-ITX Motherboard - Aria Technology

Arianet Q5 Mini-ITX Black Aluminium Chassis 120w PSU - Aria Technology

    8GB (2x4GB) Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Dual Channel Kit [BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU] - Aria Technology

What will you be using the gear for? If it's just HTPC duties then this is vastly overpowered!

Yup. Buy a 30GB mSATA off eBay for £30-40. Can be built off Celeron model for £200 including everything.

It's overpowered but it will last me longer won't it? Also I might fancy a game of FIFA on it so I can ditch the Xbox!!

For a bit of future proofing, it looks ok, but cpu is OTT just for media playback. If you're gaming as well, then fair enough.

I'd swap the case for something like an Antec ISK 300-150, which includes a 150w psu. I'd also change the cooler if it's noisy to a Noctua NH-L9i or a Scythe Kozuti.

I'm waiting to see what the i3 Haswells are like...

The haswell NUCs have full size SATA port and SATA power. Just need a custom enclosure for it. A lot of enclosures are fanless too!

Well, I built the haswell HTPC.... Amazing!! I've taken photos during the build and a vid so will post a build and result thread tomorrow!....

    Core i5 4430, 8gb ram, 64gb ssd

It's good. And it plays fifa 13 maxed out buttery smooth!
