Waiting on a black 3806 and 3910. Got B&W MT-30 and trying to set speakers up. I did originally have the sub on the left but felt it was a bit exposed so I moved it behind the TV unit.

Will it be ok there or will it cause any probs? eg due to radiator being close + other equipments proximity.

I also heard that a sub is worst placed in the corner of a room. Is this true?

    Cheers in advance.

If you have enough cable, one thing you could do is use the old trick of putting the sub in your listening position, play some bass heavy sound, and then you move aboud the room finding where the sub sound's best.

Putting any base unit, either sub or full range speaker will have their bass amplified and sometimes overpowering by placing in a corner. I'd say put it back to the left where you had it if it's practical and won't get kicked too often ;)

    Cheers

My sky cable was too short also you can buy a female coupler and extend the cable without any ill effects to the sky picture.
PS try the sub in the corner and see what it sounds like if your happy leave it there thats what i did.

I do think you may need to rethink the position of you satellites though, not going to be too effective where they are at the moment. :lesson:

everyone has a different perception of what sounds good. IMO get it out of the corner. I enjoy the sound difference that is produced in keeping most subwoofers out of a corner. I don't like the "place subwoofer in sitting position and crawl around like puppy" trick.. I just don't think it is practical. If space is a concern, keep it in the corner, or try pulling it foward against the wall on the right. take a picture of your room from a distance and let us know the dimensions. the real trick is experiment a little bit.

cool room. Depending on where you put your L+R mains or where you sit it probably won't make a big difference but try sliding the sub closer along side the radiator. The radiator should not affect the sub if it is oil-based and there aren't any fumes or flames close to it. The direct heat MIGHT cause the subwoofer to behave differently though...who knows, maybe you won't have to "break-in" the sub on a very cold day. hehe.

If I had a PV-1 I wouldn't hide it behind the telly :) . But SQ-wise the placement might be OK. Tucking the sub in a corner means that all of the sound from that corner will be in phase (sound from the sub & reflections from the floor and walls), which helps with phase cancellation issues. Room modes are a different thing, but the placement of your sofa might be quite good in that regard, too. And moving the sofa by just a few inches can make a difference. Listen and learn (when you get your amp), this is just my guess!
