I am looking for an AV receiver for under £600. Does anyone know if imminent products such as the Denon 2802 and Pioneer VSX860 will have DPL II on board?

Should I wait for these new models, or just go for the current ones?

    My current equipement is:

    Toshiba 28WD98 TV
    Pioneer DV-340 DVD
    JVC HRS-8700 VCR

I am planning to add a speaker package to this system, which will be either a Boston System 8000 or Monitor Audio Baby AV1 (both for asthetic and partner pressures).

    Hope someone can help. :)

The Onkyo TX-DS595 features DLP-II and is already available.
    Retail £449
And mighty fine it is too.

    ;)

Oh, and if you want partner-sensitive speakers why not use the Kef 2005s.

This is the combination I have.
    Superb.

Wow, £360 for a DPL II receiver from Onkyo! That's a major bargain. I had to look twice on QED to make sure it was true. Have there been any reviews of it anywhere?

I may wait to find out if the Denon and Pioneer models will have DPL II, but I bet I won't get either one for £360?

Then again maybe it will be worth spending an extra £250 or so to get a THX certified model from Pioneer, although I have heard that the VSX859 was good at doing an impression of a barbeque! Hope the 860 doesn't do that.

Does anyone know when the AVR2802 or VSX860 will come out so I can make a comparison between them and the Onkyo 595?

I looked on www.onkyo.net, and the 595 has a DTS decoder on board which is great. But it doesn't mention that the 595 has a DD decoder on board. My DVD player doesn't have a DD decoder either. Does this mean that I won't be able to listen to DD Discs when using the 595?

I thought it was pretty clear in the Features list but I suppose you might have been a bit confused by the wording, as it says DTS Decoder, but only says Dolby Digital, (i.e. no mention of Decoder), but rest assured it does have DD Decoder.
I would be surprised to see a mainstream AV Receiver in the UK that didn't!
