Will there be any sports channels on TUTV or freeview in the future?
If a channel can make more money from advertising than they can via subscription (with a little ad revenue thrown in) then I do expect to see a dedicated sports channel on DTT in the future.
Exactly what that channel could show is another matter, good sports rights are very expensive and if SKY don't buy them then they tend to get taken by the BBC, ITV and other "big" broadcasters leaving very little of any mass interest.
However I don't think anything like this will happen until analogue shutdown which then means a small DTT channel has exactly the same potential audience as the big 3 commercial channels (ITV, CH4 and Five).
With analogue gone of course the extra capacity could easily be bought by SKY and you could see SKY sports/Eurosport offered as subscription channels on DTT
Wasn't Eurosport (or something like it) on DTV when DTC first come out?
British Eurosport was on Ondigital as an ordinary pay channel (part of £3 for 15 in the basic IDTV special offer subscription)
