Hi All,

I have an HD-A1 and have been merrily getting HD-DVDs from the US. I understand that HD-DVDs are region free, but I understood that, with the advent of the Euro HD players, there would be the introduction of some kind of region encoding on HD-DVDs purchased in the UK.

Is this correct? If so, where does this leave my imported collection (i.e has the Tosh player been doctored to play only HD-DVDs bought in the UK)?

If not, is there any plan to adopt region encoding, and where would this leave people who have imported discs?

No

All the organising people have done is commission an report looking at the options for the future. NO decisions have been made and all current region free players and region free discs will remain as that.
