It just makes me wonder. I see 36" CRT tvs still coming out around the £2k mark, some just under some over. This is not affordable and the amount of time they have had to produce a respectable 36" CRT at a cheap price just hasn't been achieved. Obviously new technology is meaning ever better pictures, to a point. But i still don't buy it, that they can't debut something much cheaper AND better than any predeccesors. So that makes me move on to plasmas and lcds. Prices vary at the moment from £2500 upwards. The wide range of sizes is also a factor but lets assume 37" or whatever upwards. Is the same going to happen here. Are we going to see real mainstream plasma, sub sub £1000 mark? for a start, they seem fragile for your average family. true, the man of the house may want one, but does he want his kids forgetting to turn it off, knocking into it, getting jam on it, etc. this is another argument maybe. But what do you think, is plasma/lcd going to platau out at £2k regardless of size? and then we just see technological improvments based around that figure?
