Hi, can any one help. My xbox will not play games, it keeps coming up as a music cd and some times it will say it does not recognise the disc as an xbox disc.

    Please help, rockon.

Your xbox lazer is dying, so eventually you will have to buy another drive. You can get them on ebay or try the classifieds here. They're easy to fit and much cheaper than a new xbox.

But for the time being you could try blowing into the dvd drive whilst the tray is out and try washing your discs under the tap and you should be able to play games again, but long term a new drive will be needed

My Xbox has recently started chucking out games occasionally. I turn it on, change to Halo or Top Spin or Lara... close the tray, and it opens again within 1/10 of a second. The only way I can get it to play is to turn it off, and then boot up from there with it already in, as it will accept the disc fine doing that.
    Any ideas please?
It doesnt do it everytime tho thank god

    No.. the colour doesnt change.
It has before when the cable has been out.
But on these occasions it does it so fast.. i cant see how it has time to read the disc... in fact im sure that it doesnt.
Its as if it detects something from stopping it to shut... even tho nothing is obstructing it.
Checked the cable and its securely in
