Looking to get a 50" plasma, narrowed down to Panasonic 50PV30 or Pioneer 505XDE. Panasonic looks to win on PQ, really prefer the higher contrast ratio, but as ever Pioneer seems to win on future connectivity!

With no HDMI fitted as standard on panasonic, does anybody know just how 'high definition' it claims to be? Will it accept Sky's 720p/50Hz standard without messing around to convert to 60Hz?

    All help appreciated!!!

It won't accept it at all. No digital input, no 720p on any input AFAIK, certainly not on component. If you want a TV then Pioneer it is.

Make sure you can live with the SD signal too, I can't bear it personally. All noise, judder and blurring. They are astounding on HD stuff, which is why all Pioneer dealers demo them on HD. It will be some time before there is much HD content, you will have to live with what you see for a few years yet.
