    Yes.

    Oh yes indeed.

Friend of mine has being playing his 360 on a 32 CRT via Scart and saw mine on an HD LCD via HDMI. Playing COD3 his first comment was "I can read the compass".

Second comment was "My TV makes me puke" and immediately ordered a new TV.

I didn't think the 360 looked 'next gen' until it was HD.

Go HD if you can you won't regret it one bit

I think Homer Simpson put it best after watching HDTV then going back to his normal TV...

'Lousy low definition TV, pictures so blurry, like rubbing dirt in my eyes'

Depends on your budget. If you're looking for something that is good quality and overall good value for money then I suggest one of the Samsung models. There usually issn't much difference in price between 23" and 26" models so you might as well go with the latter. They now come with two HDMI's, one component and one VGA as well as the usual SD connections now. Mine only has one HDMI

Well after reading your original post you want to use HDMI?

If you dont care you can get the xbox360 VGA lead and you can then use a pc monitor like this for example..

    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/117300

Or this one that is top notch picture quality and can connect using component

    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/128136/rb/0 1080P

Obviously the flexability of using an LCDTV is you can use it as a tv aswell..

yep sorry i should have put that better.

M1ket you are being helpful, yet i just come out with a smart arse comment.

What i should have said is, if you go for the pc monitor option, pay particular attention to the resolution etc.
there is a bit more to look out for as opposed to the TV route

Definitely as far as i can see the 360 goes upto 1360×768, then 1920x1080 using VGA and 1360×768 matches pretty well with the first monitor i linked to..

The dell one has component connection anyway so probably not an issue

I assume you have an Elite with HDMI out ? The Premium will get HDMI soon, but its unconfirmed when the new model will be on general sale.

Best go for a screen with HDMI, VGA and Component. Then you are covered and are free to try different connections. HDMI isnt necessarily the best with all panels.

I recently bought a budget LCD TV - an AOC 32" and I must admit for a little over 300quid the picture quality is really good. Very close to some models I've seen for nearly twice the price. So far I've tried Xbox1 through component, Wii through component, SD Sky+ through RGB Scart, PC through VGA and all are more than acceptable. Will try 360 through component when it arrives next week.

I'm in the same boat as the op, as im off to uni im going to be using it on an sony 14" crt via scart, however at Christmas ill be able to get a small lcd screen.
The dell screen does look good, but could anyone recommend me a lcd tv with an integrated freeview tuner as that would be a tempting alternative. oh and i really couldent go over £400.

quick question, if get an lcd with only 1 hdmi but I will be buying ps3 as well so how I go about that, will there be any loss in picture quality of ps3 or elite if one of them are conected other then hdmi, I do understand scart is not a better option.

the best lcd at 26" i would say is the panasonic 26lxd70, although it depends on how much you want to spend. your best bet is to post the question on the lcd forum. you'll get the best tv's for your budget in no time. once you've got a shortlist you can then view each tv's individual spec and make a decision for yourself.

also, there's a little more to it than just "hdtv". you want to be looking at resolutions, contrast ratio's, viewing angles, refresh rates (i.e. 100hz), response times etc etc to get the best bang for your buck.

    happy hunting

you should have no trouble getting a 26incher with 2*hdmi. if not then you can purchase a hdmi splitter box which will accept both inputs and connect to the tv with a single hdmi. it has a switch on the box that you can alternate between the 2 inputs. make sure it is lossless though as you may get signal loss from one of the cheaper manufacturers.

scart is yesterdays news as it cannot display hi-def signals. best connection for your xbox, as far as i am aware, is in this order...

    hdmi
    vga
    component

followed by s-video and scart etc. (although there is some argument between vga and component quality-wise)

Just slightly over your budget but a great TV and a really good value. It has Freeview, 2 HDMI's, a component, a VGA and 2 scart connections.
