After my recent post on Subwoofers at low SPLs I have decided to take the plunge and buy a 'woofer. I want something fairly small and with a wood finish. My system is Denon 3910/3805 into Linn Ninkas, AV5120 & Uniks. Would the BK XLS200 be a worthwhile purchase? My room is around 14'6" X 12'6". If not the BKs then what would you recommend? I'm prepared to spend up to around £700, but don't want anything much bigger than a 16" cube.

BKXLS200 would do a great job, it's diminutive size will fit the bill, the wood finishes are excellent. It packs a very powerful punch yet also does great work at low sound levels (the way I usually listen to it). Way way under your budget too!

Yep, way under budget is a good thing :D I'll see how I get on with one and maybe upgrade to two at some stage. Or I might just buy a nice DVDR/HDD machine with the excess cash.

Try and get a demo of the B&W ASW675 a very good compact sub and it looks very good also.
    Cheers Gonzo.

I've got the ASW675 for a room that's a very similar size to yours and it performs amazingly well. I can't believe the huge noise that such a tiny box can make, and I'm also impressed with how it performs with music.

    Mornin'

Have you thought about the MJ Acoustics REF200! Just under budget and an awsome sub.

Yes - the B & W and MJ models had crossed my mind (along with REL). Has anyone compared any of these three against the BK?
