    People, ive been reading though the manual for my 42" JVC GM-V42EB monitor and it states in the manual it can accept HD signals via component?

    it reads;

    'You can select one of the High Definition (HD) signal types through the component/RGB terminals - 1080i or 1035i. Normally set it to 1080i

    Now am I getting my wires crossed (no pun intended) does this refer to signals from PC's or will it take signals from Sky HD or a HD DVD player?

    It certainly wasnt advertised as HD ready

    I pray for your expert opinion!!!

    HD Ready means more than just being able to take 1080i, you need to take 720p/50, 720p/60, 1080i/50, 1080i/60 and support HDCP. So the chances are it does support HD but can't be labelled as HD Ready.

    Just checked the manual and it takes 480p/60, 576p/50, 720p/60 and 1080i/50 but not 720p/50 so fine for SkyHD for example over component.

    Native res is only 480 lines but you'll still get a better picture on HD stuff.

    until HDCP becomes an issue you should be fine feeding 1080i from sky HD etc
