as long as you can enter your login details somewhere on your console you should be okay. If not, you'll need a router. Then you'll enter the login details in the router software and it will get you online whenever a PC or game console requires an internet connection.

    Hope this helps.

If your DSL modem is ethernet, rather than USB, then I think you should be able to connect it directly to the 360.

I'd recommend getting a router though (maybe a combined router / DSL modem). Much easier. No need to swap over each time.

I've never entered any personal details into my router and i can connect anything to it just fine. The only thing it knows is the ip address.

ive got a motorola modem from telewest, pc is connected via usb and xbox is running through the ethernet port, can use them both at the same time. no routere needed. and much simpler than using a router too. just enter your ip address into the xbox and away you go.

I didn't realise Telewest still did that.

ntl used to offer a "Broadband & Console" service, where you got 2 IPs instead of one, but ditched it when they brought in 10meg IIRC.
