Will I benefit from progressive scan?

Thinking of uprading my dvd player, have come across the Harmon Kardon DVD25 specs say it has progressive scan, NTSC only, will I benefit from progressive scan when watching R1 discs connected to the tv (Tosh 56") via component? TIA.

Paul's right.

AFAIK only a projector, plasma, or potentially one of the Loewe models with a VGA board will accept a PS signal. Some CRT sets confuse matters by saying that they are PS, but that refers to their own internal processing, *not* that they can accept a PS signal through the component inputs.

Cheers,
Liam

Oblivion/Liam, thanks for clearing that up, just read a review of the player and it was not very well explained, I too thought that both player and veiwing equipment had to be PS compatable, the review just said "You will benefit from PS when connecting via component".

Still the player looks half decent, will benefit from the component outputs anyway, one for the short list.
