Will EP30 ever be multiregion

Hi, I have just purchased the above and sold off my multiregion player thinking I only had one or two R1 discs. When working through to see the DVD playback on the device I realised that I was wrong and a large number of my discs, including some of my favourites, are actually from the US. I wondered if anyone knows the likelihood of this player ever receiving a multiregion hack, and if not what player should I go for to playback my R1 discs? Im quite tempted by a US PS3 due to reviews praising its DVD playback and the added bonus of it being blu-ray.

This is one of the reasons i took this back to the retailer to get a refund. I looked everywhere for a region free hack but no joy. if it was as simple as a 'code' i'm sure we would have heard about it by now.

Its a shame really, the performance of its up scaling was fantastic, much better than my PS3 - but the HD pictures were not much better than the 360 add-on. that coupled with the rumour the formats days are numbered made me think it was a waste of my £200. That said, if it was region free it would still be with me now...

Does this allow playback of R1 discs that make use of RCE protection ? The XE1 "hack" doesn't AFAIK.

I am sure one day a firmware update or code will be released that will make it region free, just need to be patient.

EP30 MR firmware update has been promised on another thread by the source who is doing the other MR hacks IIRC.

Perhaps - but i really hoped the ep30 would look a lot better than my add-on for the 360....but it didnt!.

So i thought the £200 i just spent was a waste for (what is was for me) a region 2 upscaling dvd player, so i got a refund...and i feel 100% happy with my decision. After all, tesco's have just shaved another £20 off the price in the space of two weeks, so by the time a region hack is available the price would have dropped even more and i will pick one up then. Makes sense to me.

I too am waiting as I have a load of R1 SD DVD's

Suppose I can't complain as I got mine for Chrimbo. Friend got it for me as she works for Universal, got it for £99 inc the 7 films

Does anyone know when the Toshiba HD-ED30 is going region free for SD DVD's, I heard that it was when they release it in Australia if so do we know when that would be?
