    here is the problem,

I have just ordered myself a Hitachi 32LD7200, which i am planning on connecting to my pc via DVI... but here is the problem, the 32LD7200's DVI connection is a DVI-D but my graphics card is a DVI-I.

Would a standard DVI-D to DVI-D cable be ok as a DVI-I connection will accept both analogue and digital signals

    Yes!

DVI-I sockets are compatible with DVI-D plugs - however the reverse is not true!

All that happens is that the analogue signals presented at the DVI-I socket on the graphics card, are not transferred down the DVI-D cable - only the digital signals get transferred!
