will an xbox play re-writeable dvd's

    recently bought a DVD burner and wondered, if I the xbox will play DVD R +/- or RW +/- before I shell out 20 quid on the plug in and remote.

    All depends on which laser you have in it mate as there is one type that will read anything you throw at it but another type which has trouble with even the best dvd-r media.

    My xbox plays DVD-R's fine, but didn't like a DVD+R at all. My xbox is a PAL unchipped machine if that helps.

    Theres no problem playing DVD-Rs or DVD+R (one or the other usually), but there'll be big problems playing CD-RWs if you have an original XBox with the 1st batch of thompson drives.
