    hi all.

i have an old 2G iphone it's jailbroken, unlocked and i use it on a UK contract with Orange.

since updating it to 2.1 from 1.4 there has been a few seconds delay on loading the selected module; calender, notes, clock, i think just about everything.

i seem to remember someone mentioning this was a problem with 2.1.

if i update to 2.2 (i hear 2.2.1 cannot be unlocked?) would this cure the delay?

or could the delay be down to using winterboard?

are there any other benefits i would get? i always hate the unlocking process as i'm never really sure what i'm doing and i'm scared of losing stuff (last time i lost my entire contacts :( )

    any advice would be great.

    thanks

Ive heard that if you open a blank safari page and close all others before quiting the app that will speed it up as it takes no memory to run in the background

    thx guys.

i turned off all the ticks in winterboard, is that the same as removing it?

it's a bit faster now but not as good as when it was 1.4.

did anyone else here that 2.1 was slow when launching apps? or did i just hear wrong.

also, does this mean i can't use any custom backgrounds or docks without having that terrible delay? is there another way of doing it?

so, long story short: i'd like to make my iphone have as fast as possible load times. i'd love to have custom icons etc but not at the expense of speed. and i'm wondering whether updatting to 2.2.1 or 2.2 is worthwhile.

    cheers

I've recently noticed this problem with my 3G as well !

Seems to have only started when I upgraded to 2.2.1 then jailbreaked again.

    Anyone else ?

its winterboard - its a trade off - a cool looking phone or a couple of extra seconds on load times.

i fiinfd it helps if you delete anything from WB that you have DL'ed and wont use. I only have one theme (gradience) and i dont have much else.

you pays your money you makes your choice as they say.

    thx guys.

    i'll probaly not upgrade then.

i've turned off all the ticks in winterboard, i miss it's old interesting look though. :(

springboard (or was it customise?) didn't seem to affect 1.4 though.

i wonder if they'll ever be a different way of customising the look of the phone without those dodgey load times.

    cheers
