Is it possible to use a mac to record Sky programs via Sky amstrad set top box, onto a mcbook pro dvd eg using
EyeTV 250 http://www.elgato.com/index.php?file=products_eyetv250, or
EyeTV Hybrid http://www.elgato.com/index.php?file=products_eyetvhybrid&PHPSESSID=cbe80e1b6a863482465fc5f5e88e093
or TV max http://www.powermax.com/articles_re...40&PHPSESSID=1d2ea1d041dff013bf79623a49b8300c

or please suggest an alternative?

also does anyone know the best way of recording old vhs tape on to my mac for backup purposes - I was thinking about the the above EyeTV250, then burning onto DVD?
cheers

You can do but the quality will not be great - s-video, composite or RF will not give you great quality captures ... similarly with copying vhs tapes - it will work but don'tbe too surprised if they aren't very watchable ...

You might want to have a hunt around some of teh torrent sites for the sort of major shows that are on sky ;-)
