OK, I'm attempting to keep this hardware related and not stray into the realms of piracy :smashin:

I have a hardware modded wii (I presume a wiikey)

It has never been updated. The current firmware version is 3.0e

I have no idea what version the wiikey is.

Today I purchased a wii fit. Now upon inserting the bundled game disk it asked for an update.

What would be the repercussions of this update? I don't want it to render my wii "bricked"

    Any help is appreciated!

Ok, would appear there isn't much opinion on this issue here.

I've been browsing other forums on this too, and the general conclusion is that if the console and the game are the same region, you shouldn't have an issue.

So, I've started the update, or rather started it over an hour ago.

The progess bar moved around 20mm in the first minute (i'd say around 3% progress) and hasn't moved since in over an hour.

    my questions:

    1. How long would it "normally" take?

    2. Does it need www access?

    3. Does it sound like this update has stalled? If so, Am I ok rebooting and retrying?

    Ta!

Ok.. A little under the kind of response I'd hoped for :rotfl:

The update had infact crashed. No idea why, and this is the u8pdate from the wiifit disc itself.

So, I hooked the wii back up tothe wireless and did a system update from the internet.

This worked fine. Installed in around 10 mins. The only problem was after the installation the wii remote would only work to press A at startup then for around 5 seconds after, then it would do nothing, no hand, no resync... nothing.

Tried allsorts, eventually I removed the wiifit disc from the drive and rebooted, everything went back to normal and the wiifit works a charm.

So, anyone else in the same situation.. here's your answer. Presuming you used the search facility.

What have you updated to? Probably 3.4 i would imagine.... in which case it is possible to go back to whatever firmware version you want anyway. (with some jiggery pokery!)
