Anyone completly unable to hit a splitter ball in 2 player mode?? My missus keeps destroying me in 2 player baseball as I can't seem to hit them at all! seems far too low for my Mii to hit!
Maybe I should be swing the bat lower?? Is it just me??

Really getting into ten pin bowling. Trying to master doing it the professional way and spinning it at the moment. High score is about 230.

Question about wii tennis. Does the fact that your character is controlled by the cpu not effect the gameplay at all? Can you do topspin, lobs etc and is there anyway of controlling whether you hit the ball cross court or down the baseline?

    Just wondered!

yes, but I wish there was a singles mode. If you set it up with only two players, are they both controlled by you, or just one of them?

    yep.

direction seems based on when you hit the ball (early goes left, late goes right etc) and you can hit lobs and spin but not sure how (I did a lob once)

My wife who *never* plays video games despite me buying DS games, eyetoy stuff etc, absolutely caned me at tennis and she plays tennis properly. So its seems pretty good.

I still can't putt in golf. Can't keep the power meter less than 40 per cent so it goes flying over the hole :(

You can set it to only have one of your Miis playing by clicking on the Miis (with the question marks on them) before the game starts (I think its the same menu where you decide on the length of the game).

I too wish there was a singles mode, as well as a career mode.. but for what it is, it's an excellent game and a perfect way of getting non-gamers involved in playing Wii.

Don't forget to try out the training modes, they're just as good if not better than the main games.

Boxing ones are a killer if you fancy a workout.

Problem over, just figured out way round it. I just turn the controller facing the other way when putting and just do a straight putting motion without swinging and it does it perfectly however hard you want. Wierd but true :)

Is there a list of what scores you need to achieve each medal in the training mode?

I hit 7 home runs (1050 yards) in the Home Run event and still only got bronze, driving me mad. My arm is pretty tired now!

i wish there was a singles mode in tennis as well. You can have you and a cpu controlling your partner, but i prefer to control both.

bowling is my fav game so far (less energetic than the others). I have a sore arm from baseball, so need to have a rest from that for a day or two!

Is there anyway to turn off those tips everytime you start a game?

Or is it just because I keep changing what Mii I am using?

Am I right that your opponents get better when you got better? In tennis for example, I learned the trick of serving aces, at first, the computer just couldn't cope with it. Now they not only can return my serves, but also serve aces back to me!!!! My skills level now is 894. Also, can you direct where you serve? Can you drop the ball just in front of the net?

Really loving Wii Sports Tennis and bowling are my favorites, just one question when bowling how do you spin the ball to the right ?

Have managed to do it a few times but can't manage to master the technique.

    Thanks

You need to flick your wrist at the same time as depressing the B button, takes some practice and I still can't nail it every time. If you get it right it's possible to make the ball swerve completely over to one side.

In baseball, when you are pitching is it possible to do the different types of pitch (such as a curveball?). I've tried flicking the remote in different directions but it always seems to do a straight pitch

Same for me on baseball, always says it's a fastball, when I'm the batter though it sometimes says swerve ball (or something like that). No idea how to change it. I usually just flick my wrist and deliver a weak throw and the opponent rarely gets more than a single - pitching is the weakest part of the whole game for me.

I think if you press the A or B button while pitching it delivers a curve ball etc..

You may have to release the button as you throw as in bowling.

Yup holding A or B does a Curveball or Screwball, holding both does a Splitter. No idea what a splitter is apart from maybe the Judian Peoples Front.

from what i can tell a splitter is a ball that goes straight and dips down at the last minute. It's good if your opponent always swings the bat, and you can strike them out. If they don't swing though it will be a ball.

What speed do people pitch Fast Balls at? I average about 150, but sometimes it goes up to 152.

    Change bowling ball color

As The screen is fading to black for bowling, hold down the control pad until it fades to bowling for these colors:
    Control Pad Up Blue Ball
    Control Pad Right Gold Ball
    Control Pad Down Green Ball
    Control Pad Left Red Ball

    Change the tennis court

To change the tennis court to the blue practice court, press and hold (2) at the warning screen that shows after selecting characters.

Play Golf without maps or meters

To disable the power meter, map, and the wind speed indicator, press and hold (2), then make a selection at the "Select a Course" screen.

Getting pro in either tennis or boxing

If you get pro, which is over 1000 points, then in either sport, the reward is a bigger audience, and all of your Miis that aren't being played get put into the audience. If you make a bunch of random Miis, they will all be there.

    Special Bowling Ball

Get to pro level to unlock a bowling ball with diamond designs on it.

    Scare Crowd in Bowling

To scare the crowd while bowling, start the regular motion for bowling and let go on the backswing. The ball will fly backwards and the crowd will scream and jump.

Knock down other players pins in bowling

(This is best done on 2 player mode but I hear its possible by yourself)

In bowling, if you aim your arrow to the very end of the lane, then move your character to the end aswell, you can throw the ball onto the other players lane, most likly it will go in their gutter, but if your talented enough, you can get it to knock down their pins. This even coiunts on your score!

91 Pin Strike in Power Bowling Training

To get an automatic 91 pin strike in the last round of Power Bowling, Throw the ball on the right or left rail (depending on if you are right or left handed) so that it stays on it the whole time. If it reaches the end without falling off, you will hear a "click" and an explosion. Then all the pins will fall down from the shockwave. NOTE: This only works on the last round.

    Pitch Underhand

While pitching, press 2 before throwing. To return to normal pitching press 1

    Baseball:
    Holding (A) for Screw Ball
    Holding (B) for Curve Ball
    Holding (A)(B) for Splitter

Am I just crap or is the game inconsistent with what works?

I don't expect a strike every time but yesterday I could barely hit a thing over several games, even when I reverted to my trusty, slow, cursor in a certain position throw that was getting me strikes 70% of the time over the weekend.

My skill rating flopped from 1080 to 950 with a few gamse and every throw no matter how good it looked there was one or two pins still standing.

Same thing was happening to me in baseball, was getting 7/10 home runs over the weekend but last night 2/10.

Boxing wasn't working right either, threw about 50 jabs in 2 player and none of them were replicated on screen.

Very annoyed with this game now

I can't get the hang of batting. Home runs are few and far between. I must be missing something. Does it matter how fast you swing or is it all about timing and nowt to do with swing speed?

its mostly timing but i think swing speed comes into it

i'm in the same boat as you though, can't seem to hit anything other than foul balls
