I bought the official one today and to be honest its rubbish. I couldnt get it to find the console unless it was about a metre from my pc and even then it would connect to the pc but not the internet. I have given it up as a bad job and bought a wireless router instead. 5 minutes after config all working and updating the console.

Im sure it does work just after 3 hours of playing i was getting nowhere.

I got one from Play.com. Easy to load on the drivers, then add the dongle when prompted. Switch on the Wii and it's all done for you. No probs.

I use the Nintendo USB Connector: http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore...ode=DS1017&title=nintendo_ds_usb_access_point

Never had a problem with it and very easy to set up. Whatever you do don't buy the Wifi Max, loads of people have had a problems setting that up.

Hi,

So can someone please confirm... if I was to get one of these USB connecters, I do not need to get a wireless router in my flat to get the wii connected to my broadband connection (run via cable from PC-phone socket)?

Will it feed onto the internet on my PC? My PC is about 10 metres away in a different room.

Does it take much setting up?

Cheers guys!

Only tried the official one with my DS, Zone Alarm didnt like it but it worked after I accepted the IP addresses it was trying to config with, will try the Wii on Monday.

How did it go? Did it Work well?

Well, my Zone Alarm hated it, but Nintendo tell you to uninstall it, I wont because its the best free firewall out there AFAIK, it denied a load of IP addresses but just made them trusted, had my Wii running today no problems, purchased some points, updated the console, bought a couple of games.

Works a treat. :smashin:

No you don't need a wireless router if you buy one of them and yes it will work off the internet on your PC. It's really easy to setup as long as you don't have AOL.

I'm looking at some for a cheaper price as I can't afford to spend too much...

Will any of these work?

Can someone confirm how secure these nintendo usb dongles are (e.g. is it a secure signal between PC and Wii?)
