Why Such Big Daily Price Movements On Monitors

Distinguished Member
Since they came back into stock a few weeks ago I’ve been in the market for a new Dell U4919 monitor and finally jumped in at £1055 from Ballicom. However, in that time the price has been fluctuating nearly 3% in every 24 to 48 hour period. Same thing at eBuyer and CCL. They’ve tended to go up and down between exactly the same prices set by each reseller, with eBuyer and Ballicom consistently cheaper than everyone except Senetic, who I would not consider.

I assume they are all buying from the same wholesaler and the monitors are in the country and paid for. So what accounts for them jumping around in price so regularly. I doubt it can be to do with exchange rates so do they just have someone deciding daily on the price and competitors just automatically follow up or down? Sounds labour intensive to me given the huge range of products these companies sell so perhaps there is another driver of the fluctuations.
