Its an AV orientated forum quite simply, many people ask question say for a DVD player good at CD in the DVD forum. Some good topics pop up from time to time but not daily.

Heres a good hifi related forum :

Just a question of focus really.
Most of the serious hi-fi discussions that I see tend to be on more specialised forums (e.g. Naim, PF, ZG). The AV forums tend to have a high degree of "less well informed" persons (with some notable exceptions).
If you think that this is not too fullfilling a forum, try elsewhere, eg. the zerogain forum, which IMO is one of the best out there. Of course they all tend to have a level of bias, but take that into account, and you'll be OK.

But the processor n power amp section is quiet as well, to be honest the normal integrated amps/receivers seems quiet as well.

My theory is that it's summer so a lot less students and also it's just so darn hot people just can't be bothered to sit in front of their pc's on here.

yup - I think the summer theory sounds right,

I sell pro studio quality bi wire , for home hi-fi, as a part time paying hobby, and this time of year my sales are down 90%

( not that UP was that many anyway ! )

I think you'll find that the AVForums have a very large number of well informed persons, but you will also find that given the membership numbers involved(Pinkfish 3370 and Zerogain 1428) in relation to here,it's just that the proportion gets a bit diluted at times.

Both ZG and PF are very opinionated as you have said, but on specific topics, can be extremely useful(especially in matters tube and LP related).

This is also,as you have rightly pointed out, aimed more towards the AV market, although overlapping strongly with the HiFi market in some places.

In addition to the ZG, PF forums dont forget DIYAudio, audioasylum - always something interesting to read there, audioholics etc.

In fairness to this forum there has been some very interesting and informative posts regarding HiFi equipiment.

You also mustn't underestimate the number of views that a thread might receive. Although it may not compare to the number in the more popular forums there are certainly plenty of lurkers - myself included - who don't feel compelled to add something to every thread that is instigated. :)

Maybe people don't reply to your posts because of their writing style.

seems they also dont like the 'writing style ' of the other threads too !

going by the dozen or so posts made in this section this week.....

no doubt this comment will get me banned ?!

well, that would liven things up somewhat !
