Because they saw $$$$$$$ and bought loads.

They cost £71 from Amazon Japan and as far as I know no one got hit with any customs charges, I certainly havn't.

I myself bought two 1 to sell and 1 to keep but havn't brought meself to stick it on forum cause it dont seem right fleecing other members.

Will stick one on fleabay and wont feel guilty.

JSW i hope thats not true, as it is very disappointing if it is, members making
£30+ on fellow members it doesnt really bode well in the spirit of the forum

i cant speak for other members who have bought here on the forum, but
the 2 sellers i have dealt with, both said they had incurred custom charges
and were selling at cost, only getting back what they had paid plus postage
so i trusted them on what they told me and bought the heads from them

i may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer :D but why would someone buy something and then sell at cost

if they can make a profit i see no problem - sellers are not exactly a charity - doubt if all the dvds i have bought from the forum have been sold on a cost only basis

market forces prevail - some folk would rather buy a uk based product at a higher price than go to the trouble of importing themselves

price comparisons are available for all and the choice is yours :D

samjet i agree with mostly what you have said accept that before
i agreed to the sale it was on the understanding that i was paying
the cost price for it though thinking about it does seem funny that
all the sellers have incurred custom charges :D unfortunately
i think the forum has changed drastically as there seems to be
less trades with more sales at high profit are the forums really
for these sellers who are turning the forum into ebay without
having to pay the fees

in a simple answer - YES - ebay without the fees

    BUT

i have had some very good buys from people on the forum (thank you all) and will continue to buy although my forte is just films for viewing and not the collectors market with toys/heads etc - although i do fancy the 6' alien model (looks better than the ex!!) but it might scare my dog!

remember a dog is for life not just friday night (in essex)

    cheers :D

Never has a truer sentence been spoken...or...er...typed... :smashin:

Spot on mate. Finding it easier to pick up a bargain in Smiths theses days than on these forums. though did pick up Wyatt Earp today for £8, which is a change from the norm.

Totally agree - Just saw a new member offering "bulk sales" of certain dubious titles. Surely this is an enthusiasts forum as opposed to an outlet store!

I somewhat reluctantly introduced the classifieds forums only relatively recently.
They are provided as a service to forum members wanting to upgrade their home cinemas and trade/buy/sell the occasional DVD and Game.
We therefore have a policy that the classifieds forums are not to be used for people to make a profit out of other members. Any people found to be 'pro trading' will get a trading ban.

whilst this in theory maybe true when you first started the classifieds
i feel there has been a big change in the dvd classfieds over time
and now i feel it is impossible for yourself and the mods to police
it as there are many sellers selling dvds that are available to buy
but are selling at a big profit JSW comments being a classic example
as he is stating that no import charges were incurred on the sonny
heads yet a seller is selling 4 of them way above the current available
price so he has made a tidy £120 profit on the 4 with no fees to pay
and he is not alone i really dont think it is right for members to charge
ebay prices on available dvds to other members i really dont think this
was your ideal when you started this wonderful forum i really hope
it does not go the way of other inferior forums

    Re: I-Robot
Hi mate, I didn't make money on this sale at all (maybe couple of quid on the postage). That guy who claims you can get it from Amazon for £71 is not entirely truthful. It would be sent via ship for that price if - standard delivery - and it takes 4 weeks via that method I wouldnt even have it by now if I had got it sent that way. Mine was sent via courier from HMV. They used Fedex to deliver it and that cost me nearly £20 PLUS I did get a nice customs charge on top - in my experience, things sent via fedex always get caught. I only sold mine to get my money back as I am not a big fan of the movie. I think it is OK but not enough to justify £100 on it. If I had wanted to make quick money on it I would have put it on ebay instead.

this is the answer from the seller over the sale of the sonny head for £120
so which answer is right on this thread i am even more confused now

Fact I paid normal postage at amazon japan !
Fact 1 came via DHL worldmail delivered by DHL in 3 days !
Fact 1 came via Deutsche Post world mail via Frankfurt and delivered this
end by Royal Mail, this was only 3 days too !!
Fact it was 14400 yen inclusive and no customs charges.

Why would I make this up as it closes a door for me to sell one at a nice little profit, not that i could fleece a fellow member anyway!!!

Look back in the dvdmovie section for the sonny head thread and you will see I wasn't the only one who got them customs free and fia Frankfurt.

Nobody I know of got it via banana boat :smashin:

JSW - How did you get your sonny head for 14400 yen inclusive of delivery?
The cheapest I could see was 14400 +900 for banana boat or +3000 for air mail.
Did you use a discount code or something?
