Why is AVF so good?

For me it is a number of things:
1. Lots of expert help.
2. Lots of information e.g. reviews, contacts for suppliers.
3. Good mods - not too heavy.
4. Members who are there for you when times are bad.

Your thoughts?

I would echo the above. Most of all it has always been a fantastic community from when I first joined in 2003, although it was a lot smaller then. No matter what problems you have be it from children advise through to cinema equipment you can always be sure of a positive solution.

I'd say that as well, if only my threads and posts didn't attract so many facepalms. ;)

Well, it's not that good is it?

All it's done for me is help me build a hi-fi system that I totally love on a very tight budget.

Improved my photography and helped me decide what kit to buy, or not buy.

Given me hours of pleasure and frustration in GC.

Apart from that - meh. :smashin:

Did you miss the words "the absence of.."?

Pincho was banned from the forums months ago
Nope ... You couldn't buy comedy like some of the dialogue he got into on avf, surreal comedy science found nowhere else.

Was joking ;). I agree, I liked Pincho and regardless of the fact he was a bit "out there" with his musings and theories, he was always good fun, but some members felt the need to ride/berate him a bit too much imho, rather than just ignore him.

Gasdad (bless his soul), and Pincho used to have some epic scientific ding dongs that were great to read

Yes, but is it too good?

Think I would now consider myself an addict. Log on too many times a day for it to be considered healthy

^^ pity about his current self-imposed GC exile, save for the occasional Google-based effort
I was wondering why it's been a bit quiet on the Gaz front
