If it's anything like my 6210 - and the 6310 is based on the 6210 - then it is a problem with the battery contacts. My 6210 would regularly turn off and I fixed it by putting a small sticky pad between the phone and the battery. This keeps the battery firm and prevents momentary loss of power that would cause it to turn off. Worth a try before taking any more drastic action.
