Why do my avi's file looks so bad when played via USB on my Panasonic G20?

It seriously doesnt look anywhere nearly as good as it should do, many of them are 720p and played via my portable usb hard drive

they look great on my Samsung LCD and Sony edge-lit LED but they almost look like pirated videos on my TX-P50G20B

like all fuzzy around the edges and not sharp and crisp like the resolution has been downgraded

has anyone noticed this? could it be that I havent registered my HDD? or maybe cause my HDD is an old one?

any help would be appreciated, thanks

yeah I just tried it via my laptop and a HDMI cable and on VLC player it actually looks like 720p, the edges are as they should be
