    Hi,
I keep getting dirty disc warnings when I try and record to DVD-RW's with my Sony RDR-GX7.

If I use a brand new disc like a TDK, out of a sealed box, i get a dirty disc warning after about 1 hour of recording at SP speed.
If I then take the DVD-RW out and look at it, it looks total clean, no dust or finger prints.
This has happened about 5 times now with different discs.

Why do I keep getting these errors?

    Hi

Are the discs playing back okay?

What does it say in the manual regarding "dirty discs", if anything?

If the disc is clean it is likely finding bad sectors, which shouldn't cause a problem on VR DVD-RW discs but might when making a DVD Video mode disc.

If the errors are common even on new, clean and good quality media, it may be the hardware that is border line and is not writing or reading 100%.

    Regards

    Philip

    Hi

    Hi

It doesn't sound normal, especially if the recording just stops. DVD-RW in VR mode has a level of defect management that should allow it to continue without you ever knowing of a problem. I would contact your place of purchase in view of getting a replacement or least best option a repair.

If it is saying the disc is dirty when it isn't, then the machine isn't operating correctly.

    Regards

    Philip
