I have my PS2 connected to my Denon 1803 via optical but when watching a DVD the receiver recognises the digital signal but only lets me select DPLII or NEO6. I have the reciever set to auto. I have tried the same DVD's, the same amp input and same optical lead with a standalone player and the receiver recognises DD5.1 and DTS no problem. I have changed my PS2 settings to "optical on" and am not sure what is wrong. Any other PS2 owners had this problem? This is the first time i've tried to get digital sound from the PS2 as i have only just got my 1803.

I had this trouble last week, the solution is...

Insert a DVD, get the PS2 DVD option icons up on screen (Press Start or Select I think).

In the Settings menu (looks like a suitcase) go to the Audio sub-menu, there you will be able to alter DD, DTS etc from Off (the default) to ON.

That should do it (it did for me).

    Thanks,
    Paul
