I've been thinking for a while now, we all love a good hero, but sometimes we love a good Baddy.

Who's your favourite Baddy of all time?

Mines got to be the Emperor from Star Wars, i just love him! He would of ruled. Either that or Darth Vader.

I can't think of any other obvious ones, but some will pop up that i can't remember, but being an all time Star Wars fan its got to be the evil Emperor.

Without thinking about it too deeply the first person that comes to mind is Goldfinger, as he did not mind who he killed, enemy or friend so long as he got the gold to himself. He killed all the gangster cohorts, and shoot one of his own to make it look he was on the other side to what he was when escaping from Fort Knox.

As for the above I have read some of the Star Wars books and played Tie Fighter and although I deplore their methods, I could see what they where trying to achieve.

So many to choose from! Let's see.....

    Brian Dennehy in "Silverado".

Claude Rains and Prince John in the Errol Flynn version "Robin Hood".

George Sanders as Shere Khan in "The Jungle Book".

Anthony Hopkins in "The Silence Of The Lambs".

Max Von Sydow as Ming The Merciless (comedy villain!) or as Oktober in "The Quiller Memorandum". (He was the best thing about "Needful Things" too).

    Alan Rickman in "Die Hard".

Tom Baker in "The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad".

    Michael Wisher as Davros.

Rebecca De Mornay (sp?) in "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle".

Ian Richardson as Francis Urquhart in "House Of Cards".

    Denis Hopper in "Speed".

David Warner in "Time Bandits" (another comedy villain).

Christopher Lee in his first performance as Dracula, or in "The Man With The Golden Gun", or "The Return Of Captain Invincible".

Charles Gray in "The Devil Rides Out".

Al Pacino in the original "Godfather" (perhaps not a villain in the conventional sense).

Michael Madsen as Mr Blond in "Reservoir Dogs".

Quentin Tarantino in the first half of "From Dusk Till Dawn".

Robert Shaw in "From Russia With Love".

    Scorpius in "Farscape".

James Woods in some film I can't for the moment remember the name of in which he played a hitman opposite Brian Dennehy as a cop-turned author, or as Hades in Disney's "Hercules".

Donald Pleasance in just about anything.

Jeremy Irons as "Scar" in the "The Lion King".

Ricardo Montalban in "The Wrath Of Khan".

Andrew Robinson as Garak in "Deep Space Nine" in the episode where they are exploring Empok Nor and he is affected by a mysterious biogenic agent.

Cigarette Smoking Man in "The X-Files".

    Jabba The Hut.

Jim Carrey as the only reason why you would want to watch "Batman Forever".

    Darth Vader.

Arnie in the first Terminator movie.

Walter Koenig as Alfred Bester in "Babylon 5".

Jacqueline Pierce as Servalan in the earlier series of "Blakes Seven". (Bloke who played Travis in series one wasn't bad either).

Anthony Valentine as Toby Mears in "Callan" or as the Baron de Belem (evil sorceror) in the pilot episode of "Robin Of Sherwood". (A later episode of Robin Of Sherwood featured a quite magnificent performance from Richard O'Brien as another evil magician).

James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom in "Conan The Barbarian".

Robert Carlyle as Albie in "Cracker".

    Christopher Walken in "True Romance".

    George C Scott in "Firestarter".

    Bruce Dern in "Midnight Sting".

I challenge anyone to find a baddie as cruel as Angelus (Angel when he loses his soul), for me he's certainly the most entertaining baddie anyway. Can't really go into detail for fear of spoilers.

Kurgen (John Clancy) was a very good baddie in Highlander, for me a bad guy/gal has to have a dark sense of humour and Kurgen certainly had that.

Don't think anyone has mentioned Joe Pesci in either Goodfellas or Casino, totally ruthless if you weren't on his side.

My namesake Apocalypse from X-Men is another baddie that springs to mind, evil but also a very clever being.

I would have thought it would have been "Kaiser" Soze, as in the title formerly given to the king of Germany.

Clancy Brown played the baddie in "Highlander".

James Mason was brilliant in almost everything he did!

Rutger Hauer was a fine villain in his prime - in "The Hitcher" or (slightly less villainous) in "Blade Runner". I don't know what happened to him. By the time he was appearing as Lothos in the movie version of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" he seemed to have completely lost it. :(

"The Prophecy" was a laugh, and Christopher Walken very good in it, but what about that extraordinary little cameo from Viggo Mortensen as Satan?
