I'm sure this will be asked again when both are here and on shelves next year for everyone in general. So i'll ask now for all those early adopters who have imported and in some covert cases, hidden them in there underware while passing through customs :rotfl:
Will.

And yes i screwed up on the first poll !!

Voted for "I Have a HD DVD Player" - which I do, the Toshiba XA1. I will buy a US BluRay player as well as soon as the titles reach a suitable quality standard and a player appears that gets good reviews.

No real intention to adopt either UK HD DVD or UK BluRay in the short term though - I foresee the range of titles to be very likely small and restrictive for several years. Odds are though my US HD DVD player will handle some, if not all, UK HD DVDs.

I have a HD-DVD player and, depending on the quality, may go for the HD-DVD add on for the 360 to play UK HD-DVD if my HD-A1 won't play them. I will more than likely (though I shouldn't) get a PS3 and use that to test blu-ray.

I'll be getting a couple of 360 add-on's for gifts if the price is right.

Hi Jeff,
If you mean you have a U.S HD-DVD player then you would vote No 2, "yes i have a HD-DVD player".Current HD players have only been released in the U.S and Japan.

I'm still waiting to buy one, it might be next week when I'm in the states. :smashin:

I have an A1 and it is fantastic,I'm hoping that it will play the UK discs when they eventually become available. If not then I'll wait for the prices to come down for a UK player as the discs available in the UK are unlikely to be equal to the US releases in quality of titles.Blu ray is out of the picture until they shape up in quality and price.

OK, there's at least 4 people on the forum with Blu Ray players - speak up. What discs you got? What are they like? Is the criticism fair or harsh?

RCA HDV5000 owner here in the states, and very happy with it. PQ is simply amazing on my 42" Hitachi plasma. The HD player is about the best money spent on my AV system! :smashin:

I've sent quite a few Toshibas over to the UK - everyone has loved them! If you're on the fence, jump to the good side already!

I've had an XA1 since release week. Ever since V1.2, its worked well and most importantly delivers great PQ and sound.

I only wanted to put the first 2 options in but thought i better open it up, and as you can see it was a good choice but there are always choices you miss sadly.

I think in the mid/long term we will all end up owning both - a stalemate could well turn out to be the result of this format war with both formats surviving. Certainly on this forum the majority of people will consider buying both formats soon rather than later - however the poor initial showing by BluRay has meant many of us have held back from buying into that format. A year or two from now and I should imagine it might be different.
